Villetta Barrea
This locality is located in the province of L'Aquila, in the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park, and belongs to the Alto Sangro and Altopiano delle Cinque Miglia mountain community. It is characterised by a beautiful naturalistic area as it develops on the shores of the lake and the slopes of Mount Mattone.
An ideal destination for lovers of nature, wellness and relaxation, with its evocative landscape Villetta Barrea offers the opportunity to make numerous excursions in the mountains along the shores of the lake, or simple backpacking walks in the green surroundings. Also interesting is the famous 'Camosciara', so called because of the high presence of wild chamois, where there is the possibility of hiking or horseback riding, picnics in the nature or admiring the evocative waterfalls in a very suggestive panorama where it is not difficult to also meet deer or fawns.
The deer, symbol of the village itself, can also be found in the characteristic village, very charming and nice to meet!
Gourmets should not miss some of the village specialities such as trout in white wine, beans with orapi (a type of wild spinach that grows wild in these mountains) and almond cakes.
