Only 130 km of fine beach for your holiday!
With its 130 kilometres of beaches, Abruzzo is the right answer for those who want to spend their holidays by the sea and enjoy a well-deserved rest. Sand lovers will find kilometres of coastline where they can stretch out in the sun.
Abruzzo is one of the favourite destinations for beach tourism and with its 130 km of beaches overlooking the Adriatic Sea welcomes tourists from all over Europe every year, who seek the beautiful sea and do not disdain the beauty of a varied and unspoilt natural environment.
Those who love sandy beaches will find in the northern part of the region the beautiful coastlines of the province of Teramo and Pescara. It is not only the extension and fine sandy shoreline that decree their beauty, but also the presence of the extensive pine forests that line them for kilometres and contribute to creating a beautiful and healthy environment of great charm.
One of the most characteristic spots on this part of the Abruzzo coastline is the one between Silvi and Pineto where the Cerrano Tower stands, an ancient watchtower dating back to the 16th century and now home to the Marine Biology Laboratory. And it is no coincidence: this stretch of sea is of extraordinary interest from a naturalistic point of view, so much so that the fourth Abruzzo National Park, the Torre del Cerrano Marine Park, was established here.
The stretch of water in front of the Tower also holds precious treasures: at a depth of 11 metres there is an important underwater archaeological site, the remains of the port of Hatria or Hadria from pre-Roman times, from which the Adriatic Sea took its name.
