Spas in Abruzzo: a journey of relaxation and wellness

Abruzzo's thermal tradition has steadily developed in recent years thanks to the enhancement of the thermal waters present and the quality of services offered. The renewed awareness of the excellent curative properties of the waters and the region's thermal potential have in fact contributed to attracting a growing number of visitors.

There are four of Abruzzo's most popular thermal resorts, starting with the Terme di Caramanico, a beautiful village located in the Majella National Park, in the splendid scenery of the Valle dell'Orfento nature reserve. Thanks to the sulphurous and oligomineral springs present, this locality represents one of the most important centres in Italy for curative and preventive, as well as aesthetic, activities.

A few kilometres away are the thermal springs of Popoli. Sulphurous waters are directed here at an establishment equipped with numerous services aimed at rehabilitation and wellness activities. There are, in fact, whirlpool baths, a rehabilitation pool, and paths and departments for specific physical therapies.

The town, rich in history and culture, is located in the province of Pescara and is an excellent starting point for excursions and visits to the surrounding area. Also in the Majella Park are the thermal springs of Raiano. Just a few kilometres from the splendid town of Sulmona, here it is possible to enjoy treatments with calcium- and sulphur-rich waters from the ancient spring called la Solfa, also known in Roman imperial times.

Another well-known location is Canistro, in the province of L'Aquila. These spas exploit the oligomineral water from the Apennine springs of Santacroce and Sponga.
The waters present, low in sodium and particularly pure, are also bottled for their beneficial effects on gastrointestinal disorders. This location is very suitable for children and the elderly and offers numerous nature trails and paths in the nearby beech and chestnut forests.

The Abruzzi's tourist offer thus confirms itself as increasingly complete. It is also suitable for those who want to spend part of their stay in wellness and relaxation, taking advantage of highly qualified thermal centres.
