The Natural Canyon of the Orta Valley
Located in the Majella National Park, the Valle dell'Orta Regional Reserve is a natural canyon of karstic origin and represents an environment rich in biodiversity and of great natural and geological value.
Formed by erosion due to the activity of the Orta River, this protected natural area features beautiful landscapes, extraordinary vegetation and numerous animal species.
The area can be visited thanks to various itineraries that differ in difficulty and duration. It will be possible to discover marvellous views and unforgettable sights, including the Cisterna waterfall that creates a natural pool, known as the Cisterna di Bolognano, the Grotta dei Piccioni, of prehistoric origin, which represents a very important archaeological site, and suggestive villages rich in history, such as Musellaro, of medieval origin.
Another part of the valley worth visiting is that called dei Luchi, where the rapids of Santa Lucia flow. Abruzzo, therefore, never ceases to amaze, offering in this case extraordinary natural landscapes in which to spend a day full of emotions, immersed in places where nature is strong and intact, in all its beauty.
