Discover Abruzzo by bike: from the coast, to the hills, to the montegne!

Abruzzo offers a diverse range of routes dedicated to cycling enthusiasts. In fact, there are numerous itineraries through which to discover the uniqueness and heterogeneity of the Abruzzo territory, characterised by a magnificent coastline, gentle hills and majestic mountain ranges.

In this sense, one of the region's peculiarities is undoubtedly the Adriatic Green Corridor or Adriatic cycle route. This route involves the entire coastline: starting in the north, where among hospitable tourist resorts it is possible to admire the low, sandy coastline blending with luxuriant pine forests, and in the south, where instead, starting from Francavilla, the coastline becomes higher and in some places rocky.
In this area it is possible to admire maritime landscapes of extraordinary beauty, such as the Costa dei Trabocchi and the Punta Aderci Nature Reserve. From the coast, there are also many opportunities to take routes in the first hills, among valleys and flowering fields, to discover small and characteristic towns.

Those who want to undertake more demanding itineraries can take advantage of the routes in the foothills. We approach the territories of the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga and Majella National Parks, where, amidst pine and beech woods and vast valleys, the first stretches of water appear, including Lake Penne, Casoli and Bomba.
Finally, we come to the innermost part of the region characterised by the Laga and Gran Sasso chains, the Majella and, to the south, the Monti Marsicani. The mountains, which are predominant in these areas, are alternated by plateaus, such as Campo Imperatore, and unique places, such as Lake Campotosto: marvellous landscape corridors to ride your bike through.

Abruzzo therefore pays special attention to those who want to explore the territory by bicycle. In addition to the numerous cycle paths and ad hoc routes, many facilities in fact, such as campsites and tourist villages, offer the possibility not only to rent bicycles, but also to create customised itineraries through specialised agencies.
